Thailand Guides - Prachinburi![]() Prachinburi province attracts few visitors but this beautiful part of the country has much to offer nature lovers and those seeking to get away from it all. OverviewThe rural province of Prachinburi sits halfway between Bangkok and the Cambodian border, with the northwestern corner forming part of Khao Yai National Park (see Nakhon Ratchasima). Prachinburi is in fact home to several impressive national parks, including Thap Lan and Pang Sida, which together form one of the largest protected natural environments in the country. Only 134 kilometres from Bangkok, it makes an ideal short break for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet. AttractionsThe national parks in the province are well protected and as such offers few facilities for visitors; however, camping permits can be obtained from rangers at the park office in Thap Lan village, Na Di district. Rangers can also help organise trips around the park but you may have to arrange your own transport to the park entrance. Thap Lan National Park is known for the abundance of wildlife, which if you have patience, a little luck and a good guide, can be seen throughout the park. Animals often spotted include barking deer, gibbons, elephants and the occasional tiger. The park is also an excellent place to see a wide variety of bird life. Pang Sida National Park is worth visiting for Pang Sida and Na Pha Yai waterfalls as is Kaeng Hin Phoeng, a series of rapids on the Sai Yai River. Wat Kaew Pichit sits beside Bangpakong River 2 kilometres east of Prachinburi town. The temple, built in 1879 during the reign of King Rama V, blends the architectural styles of Thai, Chinese, European, and Khmer.
