Pattani has many beautiful beaches along its coastline including Hat Khae Khae. Hat Panare and Hat Chalalai. There are also several interesting fishing villages scattered along the coast. Hat Talo Kapo is 15 kilometres from town and has a nice beach and a harbour with many local fishing boats, known as Ko Lae.

Yarrang Old Town is a major archaeological site in the South of Thailand and evidence of two ancient communities were discovered here. Ban Wat ancient town dates from the 11th -16th Centuries B.E while Ban Prawae dates from the 22nd-23rd Centuries B.E. Numerous antiquities have been unearthed at both sites.

Events

The Chao Mae Lim Ko Nieo Fair is held every year during February or March. The festival is a major event for the Chinese population who revere Chao Mae Lim Ko Nieo as a goddess of potent magical powers. The festival attracts worshippers from Pattani and the surrounding provinces, many of whom perform feats of endurance such as fire-walking. A large and lively procession through the town centre is also a feature of the festival.

Time to visit

The best time to visit Pattani and other southern provinces is during the cool season and the hot seasons, from November through until May.
