Jungle Thrills in Northern Thailand

Pack your trekking gears and get ready for a mountain trek to hill tribe villages, the splash from the white-water rafting and a wild ride on the elephant or even the oxcart.

Day 1 - Bangkok - Chiang Mai - Lahu Village (Lunch, Dinner)

Pick up from Chiang Mai Airport, accompanied with an English speaking guide, and take a 1.5 hour drive to the area of Pha Mieng. Walk through orchards down a steep jungle path to the waterfall and the Pool of Pha Mieng. Swim in the large pool, then walk to Lahu Hill Tribe Village.

 Walk along jungle trails to the remote village of Hmong Pha Mieng. Enjoy a picnic lunch under the canopy of the trees. Walk to the top of the mountain (1.5 hours), where the Red Lahu village of Pha Daeng is located. Visit the Lahu temple and enjoy a cup of Chinese tea with a village family. Walk along a mountain ridge to the Lahu village of Kup Kap.

Stay in the Lahu Village with a friendly basic accommodation, with mattresses, bed linen, hot water and toilet facilities.

Day 2 - Lahu Village - Lisu Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast at Lahu Village, take one hour walk downhill to Huay Sadhan waterfall, then ride on an elephant's back downhill to Mae Taeng Elephant Camp. A picnic lunch by the river is followed by a white-water rafting down the river. Proceed to the Thai village of Muang Gurt. A 45-minute bicycle ride brings you to the Akha village of Huay Pong - the trip ends at the award winning Lisu Lodge. In the evening, enjoy delicious dinner and a display of Lisu culture with music and dancing.

Day 3 - Lisu Lodge - Chiang Mai (Breakfast, Lunch)

Breakfast at Lisu Lodge, take a cultural tour of the village with one of the Lisu elders, with your guide as a translator. Visit the shrine of spirit that guard the village and learn about other aspects of Lisu culture. Lunch at the lodge, then one hour ox-cart ride through a farmland and a forest to the country village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng. Then, transfer to Chiang Mai Airport.
